James enjoyed another Dance for Abilities (DFA) event. What a brilliant Brazilian Carnivale atmosphere, which was made possible by the glamorous dancers and the Carnivale beats from the band. It was a great night of colour, food, and DANCING!!
Thanks again to the amazing Dance for Abilities team for the hard work behind the scenes and on the night.
The venue was The Port in Darling Harbour which again was a great venue. DJ Albatross and King Julz were on the decks as ever pumping out the music.
James was in his element!
DFA was founded by Jonathan Hopkirk, the younger brother of Rosa who was born with Down Syndrome. Being a part-time DJ and having been involved in organising events, Jonathan often took Rosa along with him for a night out and to help him spin the decks, which she absolutely loved. Many great memories were made on these nights out and Jonathan saw an opportunity to make many more for the wider community. And with this in mind, DFA was born.
His vision was to host events for people with intellectual disabilities in the same venues that we ‘all’ like to attend with the same frills that we ‘all’ take for granted when socialising.
