Dentist at Large – Diamond Head at Dawn – Part 5
Managed to get the car back to rental place, but trying to fill up a car at Hawaiian petrol station when you are already under the pump!
Sleep in? You’re kidding! Up at 5am for a steep walk, climb ladders, to get to the highest peak edge of a dormant volcanic crater called Diamond Head, for dawn at 6am.
The peak is situated at a point of the island, so spectacular views of Waikiki beach, the crater itself, and the ocean.
It was a military base with hidden tunnels within crater wall, created to defend against the Japanese in World War II. It has an observation post cut into the cater just below the peak and a nearby helipad.
Back down, all before breakfast. So, what’s next… Pokémon!
