The paramedics came very quickly after the second call due to the change in breathing and her confused state.
It’s important to do a hand over to the paramedics as to what has happened.
She had passed out momentarily but came to. She was laid flat and on her side. She remained conscious and was kept alert by continually conversing with her while waiting for the ambulance. Also she last ate probably about 7am. She said she did not need medication to take and had no pain, but she was being observed for some medical condition concerning her intestines.
However, she did not feel the need to get up. Then, her breathing changed in sound and was more laboured. She felt cold and she became confused in her ability to answer questions.
The paramedics then asked her questions like her date of birth, which had great difficulty to answer. By this time they connected a monitor that checked her heart rate, pulse and oxygen levels.
A pin prick test to check the sugar levels in her blood was done.
They checked her bag for medications, such as angina tablets, or diabetic medication.
Their main concern was her confusion was worsening. However, she was still conscious.
So they took her away into the ambulance to hospital.
I later learnt they still did not find the cause for her confusion, but was observed for a few days before they discharged her.
