After my holiday of one week was reduced to one and a half days because of Covid 19, it’s been ground hog day for the last six months. The stress of a changing world and changing new habits can get to you after a while. So thanks to friends in the Blue Mountains, a three day weekend away happened.
While in a café/ bookshop, I eyed a book cover poster – Brave New World by Aldous Huxley. It was written in 1931, set in a futuristic World State, whose citizens are environmentally engineered into an intelligence-based social hierarchy, the novel anticipates huge scientific advancements.
Well I thought it’s a “brave new world” challenged not by technical advancement and politics but by a tiny virus from nature!
It was good not to think about this Covid and relax and watch the world go by with lesurily breakfast and a coffee without rushing anywhere. Also having the luxury of sleeping through the night AND sleeping in was something I have missed for a very long time!
We stayed right next to the bush and watched the widlife up close. This included all sorts of nocutunal animals such as the possum, and during the day the many birds that landed on the veranda.
We are very fortunate in Sydney to have nature so close to us. That has regenerate after such devasting bush fires. A Green Change retreat is only an hour and a half way.
Thank goodness.
Keep safe mentally as well.
