Emergency Medical Training 2020 – Part 2
This training is to always refresh our memories of the previous session, and to let us know of any tweaks to the protocols; as science and experience finds a better and safer way of managing different people and saving lives.
Topics include:
- Team based approach
- Latest science and techniques
- Assessment of emergency conditions and patient status
- CPR training
- Advanced resuscitation techniques
- Oxygen in medical emergencies
- Airway devices
- Drug protocols
Emergency Treatment Algorithm
Equipment training includes:
- Airway management using advanced airway devices (such as the I gel tubing to open the airway)
- Respiratory and cardiac support using supplementary oxygen therapy, bag and mask ventilation
- Use of drugs including
- Aspirin – used in Heart attack
- Adrenaline – used for Aanaphylactic shock
- Salbutamol – open airways in an Asthma attack
- Glyceraltrinitrate – for Angina
- Glucose – for Hypoglyceamia and Diabetes
- Use of Automated External Defibrillator and Pulse Oximetry
Scenario exercises are used throughout the course for diagnosis and teamwork, for example, assigning who will call the ambulance, grab the red bag/defibrillator/oxygen tank, record the event, make the assessment and so on.
