Australia Day has lost a lot of its colonial, British feel of years past. There is talk of moving it to another day! I think there are more important things to spend the nation’s resources on. Australia is a unique country, as is every country in the world. Viva la difference! We have unique flora, fauna and landscapes. We are sitting on quite a bit of dirt, some of it valuable; some of it amazing to look at and even live on too. Many people have made life changing decisions to live here.
At Seymour Dental we think it’s very cool to have patients and staff with all sorts of origins and blended DNA’s. Even I’m a “bitsa”! My DNA starts from Ireland, wanders through Scandinavia, Europe, Asia and a smattering of it ends up in India.
Australians seem to be more accepting of people if they can laugh at themselves. We are not a perfect place, but we are trying to make good with the First Australians. We have freedoms that many places of the world envy. Freedom of speech, religion, and we have democracy and free entry to beaches! We may not always agree with each other, but hey that’s OK in a free society. Many people have died protecting these freedoms and this country. Lest we forget.
Our medical system will always need improving but there is access for every Australian who needs it. You have choice whether to use the private or public or even both. Education is accessable to everyone, even those with special needs, like my son James.
Dentally though it’s different. There is the government means tested child dental scheme is available for children aged 2-18 years old. However, prevention is always better than cure, not only financially but for a good life time of health.
It’s our motto – we are dedicated to providing personal care to assist you in achieving excellent health outcomes for life!
They say we are the “lucky country”. There is a proverb that says, “you make your own luck”. (A bit cheeky here – also for your mouth too). I think we are continuing to do this in Australia today and into the future.
