At Seymour Dental, we are dedicated to providing personal care to assist you in achieving excellent health outcomes for life!
Dr Anthony Seymour graduated from Sydney University in 1985 and worked as a dentist at other practices before taking over the Dulwich Hill practice in Sydney’s inner west in 1988.
Over the years he practiced all aspects of dentistry for people of all ages and from many cultures. It has been over ten years since he has been involved with implants. The practice has always encouraged a full mouth approach as part of our approach to our patient’s general health.
He became concerned when patients would complete treatment that rehabilitated their mouths from pain, restored function and improved their appearance, only to return usually two years later worse than before. Dr Seymour wanted to change this pattern.
At Seymour Dental the dentists and staff take a personal interest in our patients. We believe the mouth is an important part of a person’s health that should be taken care of. It affects the way we look, talk, eat, swallow, breathe, and digest. It can even affect our confidence as a person.
Our culture and values
To achieve our mission we approach each patient as an individual, not another set of just teeth and gums. We assess the cause of the dental needs in order to achieve lasting outcomes. This involves educating the patient and taking a holistic approach to treatment – the dentist and the patient work together towards the same goal. In other words we help you help yourself. Sometimes this may mean a staged approach where the dental health is stabilised before more extensive work is commenced.
At Seymour Dental, if the biology allows us, we try and fit in with each person’s life style. Hopefully through education this will become a healthy lifestyle, which includes regular six monthly dental check ups!
Prevention is our core motivator from the outset. A long-term approach is always foremost in our minds, and this may involve toothbrush instructions and diet counseling.
Certain medical conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, and osteoporosis need to be carefully considered and proper treatment planning is essential as this forms the basis of good communication and ensures the well-being of the patient.
Avoiding pain and suffering is the name of the game so hopefully your trip to the dentist will be a pleasant experience!
